What singing can do for you Singing can transform the life of people. It is not just the act of using your voice, its the challenge and fulfilment of attaining proficiency and then perfection. It’s the ability to set a story to music, to feel emotion and being part of a team. It’s about appearing at a concert and winning the applause of the audience and sharing the common respect and achievement amongst your peers.
Song builds confidence, maybe you have never been on stage before, never spoken publicly or been a member of a winning team. Possibly you have never been a ‘Leader’ or someone that pushes themselves forward. It doesn’t matter at Liedertafel. Singing has the potential to change all this, you learn to challenge yourself and in that way make small incremental gains in confidence which can show in many ways.
There are also health benefits that apply both physically and mentally.
Singing will not make you a Superhero, it will not enable to stride tall buildings, catch bullets, jump over large obstacles or grow taller;- but put simply, it will just make you feel great….a legal high.
The proof of this is Winter… when its foul and raining but warm and welcoming indoors. Monday night is practice night, as you gather your music and drag yourself into the car you might ask the question why ? On your return you will find your mood has lifted, cares diminished and you are very positive and animated. You have had your endorphin dose, the very same feel good sensation achieved in sport or any winning activity…you are a winner.
There’s more;- our busy lives nowadays often means that communication is through a keyboard, we don’t get the same opportunities to mix and socialise as we did. At Liedertafel we find fellowship and humour. Males are not the best communicators, but at Choir someone will always be available to share. It’s a very social activity….no need to live in Silos, this interaction is achieved through song.
Put very simply, singing just makes your life better, you must try CONTACT let this be your new challenge.
